Description

Travel/Contract Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical)

Location: Saint Marys, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Weekends: Every other weekend required
Call: No
Floating: May float to Step Down unit as needed


Required Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of specialty experience in Pediatrics (PEDS experience required)

Required Certifications (must have prior to start)

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

License Requirements

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Ohio

Facility & Job Requirements

  • Locals not allowed (radius restriction: 50 miles)
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • EMR system: Allscripts
  • Block scheduling negotiable during interview

Background Checks & Compliance

  • Criminal background check within 6 months (FCRA compliant 7-year search)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check required
  • HHS/OIG check required
  • Fingerprinting (BCI and FBI) within 6 months, updated annually; can start with results pending
  • Fingerprint clearance attestation required within 6 months of start

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Pre-employment physical exam within 30 days of start
  • Fit test completed onsite during orientation
  • Tdap immunization within 10 years of start (facility-specific declination allowed)
  • Negative TB test (2-Step PPD, T-Spot, or QGold) within 30 days of start
  • Annual TB questionnaire and symptoms assessment if history of positive TB
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if negative/equivocal
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if negative/equivocal
  • Hepatitis B: proof of vaccine series, titer, or signed declination
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination required annually (declinations not accepted; exemptions for medical/religious reasons require facility-specific form)
  • COVID-19 vaccination: Fully vaccinated with 2 doses Pfizer/Moderna or 1 dose J&J; declinations accepted with facility-specific exemption forms
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (THC tested)

Competency Requirements

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required
  • General competency exam required
  • Annual skills checklist required
  • Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement

Facility Specific Documents

  • Photo for badge (headshot on white background, no hats/caps)
  • Confidentiality statement review and signature
  • Facility-specific flu and COVID exemption forms if applicable
  • Facility-specific declination forms for Hep B, Tdap, COVID vaccines if applicable

Additional Notes

  • Floating to Step Down unit as needed
  • Block scheduling options available for discussion during interview
  • Must complete all required documentation and compliance prior to or at start date

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 1 year of Pediatrics experience, with experience within the last year
  • Experience working with Pediatric patients in an Acute Care setting
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
