Travel Registered Nurse (PCU) - Columbus, Ohio
Job Details

- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts
- Schedule: Weekdays and some weekends, rotating holidays
- Float Requirement: Must float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:3
- Unit Acuity: Lower acuity cardiac (cardiac experience preferred)
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Minimum 2 years of PCU (Progressive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience working with Pediatric patients
- Experience working with Neonate patients
- Experience working with Maternal-Fetal patients
- Proficient IV start skills
- Telemetry monitoring skills
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check (including FBI and BCI fingerprinting) required within 90 days of start
- Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending tests allowed)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tdap vaccine (adult dose)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
- TB questionnaire
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers
- Hepatitis B titer or vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer (medical exemptions reviewed)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
- Fingerprinting must be completed using Ohio BCI & FBI codes; results required prior to start or pending with attestation
- Annual background check required by Aya Healthcare (not necessarily by client)
- Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
- Ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and acknowledged annually
Competency & Testing Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam prior to start
- Unit-specific competency exam
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (minimum passing score 76%)
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement annually
- State license verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification for RN license
References & Documentation
- Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leadership role
- Employment application required including education verification
- Skills checklist required
This position is ideal for experienced PCU RNs with strong cardiac and telemetry skills, EPIC experience, and the ability to work night shifts with some weekend and holiday rotations. Compliance with extensive background checks, immunizations, and competency testing is mandatory.
