Travel RN - Neurology (Med/Surg Telemetry)

Location: Portland, Maine
Contract Length: 26 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Med/Surg Telemetry
  • Shift: 7p-7a and 7a-7p
  • Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36 or 48 hours
  • Weekend Hours: Mostly every other weekend (36 hours)
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Float Requirements: Must be able to float to any med/surg telemetry unit
  • Patient Ratios:
    • Days: 1:4-5
    • Nights: 1:5-6
  • Unit Beds: 37
  • EMR System: Epic

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Maine
  • Minimum 2 years of neurology experience, with neurology experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • BLS certification
  • Ability to read telemetry strips
  • Experience administering diltiazem, amiodarone, insulin, Lasix, and bumex drips
  • Experience managing chest tubes and vacuum (VAC) dressings
  • Familiarity with cardiac catheterizations and pacemakers

Patient Population

  • Medical telemetry patients including ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke patients

Work Environment & Culture

  • Team-oriented, willing to assist and open to feedback
  • Dress code: No hoodies or tight-fitting clothing; follow facility dress code including hair up, no fragrance, smoke-free, plugged piercings/gauges, no V-necks
  • No personal device use on unit

  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
  • Position involves working on a telemetry floor with a focus on neurology patients
