Job Opportunity: Medical Physicist

Location: Salem, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work in a full-service radiation oncology department with two Varian linacs.
  • Patient volume: approximately 65 patients per day, mostly outpatient (95%).
  • Use Varian Aria and Eclipse EMR systems.
  • Responsibilities include performing all types of chart checks, daily and monthly QA on Varian TruBeam linacs.
  • Hospital-based Radiation Oncology clinic setting.

Required Qualifications

  • Specialty: Medical Physicist
  • Board Certification: ABR board certified in therapeutic medical physics (required).
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years in specialty (Medical Physics).
  • License: No state license required for physicists in Oregon.

Skills & Competencies

  • Highly proficient with Varian TruBeam linacs and the ARIA system.
  • Ability to perform daily and monthly quality assurance on radiation oncology equipment.

Travel Experience

  • No explicit prior travel experience required.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Clear copy of driver's license, passport, or state ID.
  • Criminal background check within 90 days of start (7-year search).
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and ongoing every 30 days.
  • Physical exam within one year of start (can start with pending physical).
  • Drug testing (10-panel) within 90 days of start.
  • Immunizations and health screenings including:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year.
    • Tdap vaccine or facility-specific declination.
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella antibody titers or vaccinations.
    • Hepatitis B titer or vaccination series (may start with booster series in process).
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination (year-round).
  • Badge photo with white background required at least 8 days prior to start.
  • Completion of required facility-specific HealthStream modules by due date.

Additional Notes

  • Travel and lodging expenses covered by the client.
  • No special certifications beyond ABR board certification required.
  • No DEA or CSR required.

This position is ideal for a Medical Physicist with solid experience in radiation oncology, particularly with Varian equipment, seeking a travel contract in a hospital-based outpatient setting.
