Job Opportunity: Progressive Care Unit Nurse (RN) - Hawaii, Hilo

Position Details

Unit Description

  • 15-bed unit: 3 Step-down ICU beds and 12 telemetry beds
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4 in Progressive Care, 1:3 in Step-down ICU
  • Floating required to other acute units including Medical, Surgical/Pediatrics, ICU, and ER

Schedule

  • Scheduled 36 hours per week after first week of orientation
  • No guaranteed hours
  • No on-call required

Job Responsibilities

  • Primary nursing care
  • Telemetry monitoring and strip reading
  • Fingerstick blood sugar testing
  • Use of equipment such as Meditech charting system, Pyxis medication system, BIPAP, and continuous cardiac monitoring

Required Qualifications

  • Licensure: Active State of Hawaii RN license required by start of assignment (must apply upon acceptance if not currently licensed)
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of hospital acute care experience within the last year; Progressive Care and telemetry experience preferred
  • Certifications: ACLS preferred; current PALS and NIHSS certifications preferred
  • Dress Code: Scrubs

Additional Information

  • Must arrive the Thursday before start date for employee health appointment on Friday
  • Floating to other acute care units is expected
