Job Opportunity: RN Med Surg Telemetry (Travel)

Location: Waco, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide direct nursing care following established policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition appropriately.
  • Coordinate care across all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Execute physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning with the healthcare team.
  • Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

Required Qualifications

Licenses & Certifications

  • Current RN license valid in Texas (Nursys verification required within 30 days prior to start).
  • BLS (American Heart Association) certification.
  • ACLS (American Heart Association) certification.

Experience

  • Specialty: RN Telemetry I

  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement.
  • TB Screening: Positive IGRA or PPD results, negative chest X-ray within 1 year, and annual TB questionnaire.
  • 2 Step PPD or IGRA within 90 days prior to start.
  • Varicella: Proof of immunity or two doses of vaccine (no declinations accepted).
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
  • Health Statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.

Background & Verification

  • Criminal Background Check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry (updated annually or after break in service > 90 days).
  • Employment Verification for past 7 years (updated annually or after break in service > 90 days).
  • Education Verification within 90 days prior to start.
  • Drug Screen: 12 panel urine drug screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually.
  • Driver’s License/State ID (must be current and valid).

Additional Notes

  • Resume/Profile submission required.
  • At least two professional references required prior to first assignment.
  • Various Ascension-specific checklists and attestations required for onboarding and ongoing compliance.
