Travel/Contract Registered Nurse (PCU/Tele RN)
Location: Dededo, Guam
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Position on a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Telemetry unit with PCU level of care.
- Shift assignment is primarily one shift (day or night) without shift preference requests.
- Weekend work required every other weekend; must be flexible to support facility needs.
- Holidays are required; specific dates determined by unit needs, no holiday work requests accepted.
- Overtime is at management discretion and not guaranteed.
- Float within scope to Med-Surg and ED Tele overflow as needed; no ICU patient care outside scope.
- No local candidates accepted (must not reside in Guam).
- Passport in hand required for travel.
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; 3-5 years preferred.
- First-time travelers NOT accepted (prior travel experience required).
Patient Ratios
- 1:4-5 patient ratio.
Required Certifications & Licensure
- Current Compact or Guam RN license in hand at time of application (no pending licenses accepted).
- ACLS (American Heart Association provider card, digital certificate required).
- BLS (American Heart Association provider card, digital certificate required).
Additional Certifications (Preferred/As Applicable)
- PALS (preferred, AHA digital certificate).
- NRP (for ER; full completion required prior to start).
- Conscious Sedation (required for ER, ICU, Cath Lab).
- ESI (Emergency Severity Index) training for ER.
- NIH Stroke Scale Training (required for RNs).
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam.
Orientation & Testing Requirements
- Onsite drug calculations and Basic Knowledge Assessment Tool (BKAT) testing during orientation.
- Tests are pen and paper, must be completed in person on the first day.
- Passing score: 80% or higher; two attempts allowed with remediation discussion after first attempt.
Work Environment & Unit Details
- Acute Care facility with Adult Trauma II designation.
- 132 staffed beds.
- Unit provides care for routine, uncomplicated cardiac procedures and nonurgent percutaneous coronary interventions with complications.
- Scrub color: Navy blue preferred; any solid color acceptable for most areas.
- Charting system: Allscripts/Sunrise.
- Free parking with registration and decal.
Travel & Scheduling Notes
- Travelers must be prepared to pick up additional shifts based on census.
- Return to Office (RTO) requests must be approved and included in contract before start; max 3 consecutive days per 2 weeks, max 7 total days.
- Flights are not reimbursed; plan accordingly.
- Travelers scheduled through entire contract; do not book return flights before contract completion.
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year (facility does not require but Aya does).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; annual TB questionnaire if past positive.
- Immunizations or titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella (titer or vaccine)
- Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season (Sept 1 - June 30); medical exemptions considered with facility form.
- COVID vaccination strongly preferred; declination requires facility-specific waiver.
- Fit test for N95 masks within 1 year; must use approved mask types or complete fit test onsite.
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; instant drug screen acceptable.
Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID required.
- Current US passport required (Canadian passports not accepted).
- Background check within 1 year including nationwide and sex offender searches.
- Annual EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
- Facility-specific nursing modules (8-12 hours) must be completed by compliance deadline, including:
- Pressure Injury Training
- NIH Stroke Scale Training
- Alaris IV Pumps
- Pyxis CareFusion
- FEMA modules (completed onsite)
- Facility-specific certificates must be uploaded as required.
References & Work History
- Two professional references required for travel/per diem acute care.
- Verification of last 10 years of work history required; attestations acceptable if verification unavailable.

This is a 13-week travel contract for an experienced Registered Nurse with PCU/Telemetry experience in Guam. The role requires flexibility for weekends, holidays, and floating within scope. Prior travel experience is mandatory, along with current Compact or Guam RN licensure and ACLS/BLS certifications.
