Required Skills & Experience

• Strong embedding and microtomy skills in a high-paced lab environment
• Tissue Processing experience
• Histology Embedding/Microtomy:

  • Automated/Manual Microtome
  • Cutting tissue sections using microtome and cryostat
  • Cutting blocks
  • Embedding GI specimens, large specimens, molds, small and big specimens, skin techniques
  • Histology cassettes
  • Microtomy of fatty and hard tissue
  • Paraffin wax sections
  • Precision microtomy
• Histology Staining:

  • Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) stain
  • Preparing slides for staining
• Epic experience preferred

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Histology Technologist, including experience within the last year
• ASCP certification required
• Experience working in an acute care setting
• Proficient embedding skills in a high-paced laboratory environment
• Proficient microtomy skills in a high-paced laboratory environment
• Experience with tissue processing
• Skilled in use of automated and manual microtomes
• Ability to cut tissue sections using a microtome
• Experience cutting blocks
• Experience embedding gastrointestinal (GI) specimens
• Experience embedding large specimens
• Experience embedding molds

Additional Information

• Must complete facility-specific preorientation modules/online eLearning within 72 hours of receiving login
• Photo for badge must be passport style, forward facing, shoulders up, plain background, submitted within 48 hours of signing
• Facility is a Short Term Acute Care hospital with Magnet status, teaching facility, Level III Trauma center
• Charting system: Excellian/Epic
• Parking available at a flat rate
