Required Skills and Experience

• Strong embedding and microtomy skills in a high-paced lab environment
• Tissue processing experience
• Histology embedding/microtomy experience including:

  • Automated/manual microtome
  • Cutting tissue sections using microtome and cryostat
  • Cutting blocks
  • Embedding GI specimens, large specimens, molds, small and big specimens, skin techniques
  • Histology cassettes
  • Microtomy of fatty and hard tissue
  • Paraffin wax sections
  • Precision microtomy
• Histology staining experience: Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) stain, slide preparation for staining
• Epic experience preferred

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Histology Technologist, with experience within the last year
• Certification from AMT, ASCP, AAB, or NCA
• Strong embedding skills in a high-paced laboratory environment
• Strong microtomy skills in a high-paced laboratory environment
• Experience with tissue processing
• Proficient with automated and manual microtomes
• Skilled in cutting tissue sections using microtome and cryostat
• Experience cutting blocks
• Experience embedding gastrointestinal (GI) specimens
• Experience embedding large specimens
• Experience embedding molds
• Experience embedding small and large specimens

Additional Information

• Prior travel experience is not required for this position.
• Candidates must complete the Minnesota DHS Net Study Questionnaire immediately after signing the contract to initiate fingerprinting.
• Candidates must be prepared to complete fingerprinting within 2 weeks of registration.
• The facility is latex-free; candidates with latex allergy should be aware.
• Parking is available at a flat rate.

This position is ideal for experienced Histology Technicians with strong microtomy and embedding skills looking for a travel contract in a large, Magnet-recognized acute care hospital setting.
