Travel Registered Nurse (ER) - Lansing, Michigan
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room (ER)

- Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
- Start Date: ASAP
- On Call: No
- Weekend Requirement: Yes, 3 weekends (Friday-Sunday) per 4-week schedule; may work 1 to all 3 weekend days
- Floating: Yes, may float to Pediatrics
Unit Information
- Level 1 Trauma Center, Stroke Center, Heart Center, and Pediatric Emergency Department
- High patient ratios: typically 1:5-6, can be up to 1:8 during busy times or holidays
Required Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of Trauma ER (Emergency Room) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Emergency Department (ED) experience
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with EPIC charting system
Education
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Certifications
- Valid RN license in Michigan
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid Driver’s License/State ID
- Social Security Card
- E-Verify compliance
- Background checks including:
- 7-year Social Security Number Trace
- National Criminal History Search (7 years)
- National Sex Offender Database Search
- FACIS Level 3 Search
- Education verification
- Physical exam within 12 months noting latex sensitivity
- OSHA Respirator Fit Mask form completed at least 1 week prior to start; fit testing onsite
- Immunizations and health requirements:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year; TB questionnaire annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity or vaccination/declination
- Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination/declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (required during flu season)
- 10-panel drug screen with THC within 30 days of start (no medical marijuana cards or dilute screens accepted)
- References: 2 from previous employers
- Current resume with 7-year work history
- Skills checklist and competency exams as required by unit
- Facility-specific documents and orientation modules to be completed as required
Work Environment & Expectations
- Must agree to work 3 weekends per 4-week schedule
- Acknowledge and be prepared for high patient-to-nurse ratios
- Modules related to orientation are not billable hours (approx. 5 hours)
This position is ideal for ER nurses with trauma experience looking for a travel contract in a busy Level 1 Trauma Center with pediatric exposure and a supportive environment for first-time travelers.
