Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana

- Shift Requirements:
- Every weekend required (Saturday and Sunday)
- Plus two rotating weekdays
- Floating: Must float between multiple hospital locations within the system
- First Time Travelers: Accepted
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Indiana
- Minimum 1.5 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
- Background checks including:
- 7 years residence/work history verification
- SSN Trace, County Criminal, Statewide, National Sex Offender, FACIS Level III
- Education verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Transcript or diploma (official, clear copy)
- Education verification by third party
- Physical exam within 12 months of start date
- Fit mask test within 12 months (approved respirators only)
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred but not required)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required, no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required, no declinations accepted
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required (no declinations accepted)
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
- References: Minimum 2 from recent employment verified within 2 years, must be from charge, manager, supervisor, or above
- Employment application with full work history and explanations for gaps over 30 days
- Skills checklist within 12 months, completed annually
- Competency exams including medication/pharmacology test and unit competency exam
- Color blind testing (Ishihara exam or equivalent) with minimum 100% score
Additional Requirements
- Completion of mandatory RRT modules (22 modules) prior to orientation with a strict deadline
- HIPAA and safety manual acknowledgements
- Facility-specific compliance and orientation documents must be completed as a priority
Notes
- IU Health will not allow Indiana RNs to work at their facilities effective 11/30/24, except for Periop/OR RN’s, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers. This does not affect Respiratory Therapists.
- On-site fit testing is available only as a last resort and not at all campuses. PAPR use requires prior facility approval except at certain campuses where it is automatically approved.
- Candidates must confirm comfort and awareness of the every weekend shift requirement before submission.
