Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – CVPICU (Cardiac/Pediatric ICU)

Unit & Shift Details

• Unit: 23-bed Cardiac ICU caring for complex heart patients, including VAD and heart transplant programs
• Float between Cardiac Stepdown Unit and PICU
• Shift Options: 3x12-hour or 4x12-hour shifts
• Every other weekend required
• Staffing Ratios: 1:1 to 1:2

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Indiana
• Minimum 2 years of Pediatrics CVICU experience, with experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• PALS issued by American Heart Association
• Experience working with Pediatric patients
• Experience with Telemetry
• Experience with ventilator management

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only, RQI acceptable

License Requirements

• Must hold a valid Indiana RN license in hand at time of submission

Prior Travel Experience

• First-time travelers are accepted (prior travel experience not required)

Additional Requirements & Information

• Locals are not accepted for this position
• IU Health will not allow Indiana RN travelers to work at their facilities effective 11/30/2024, except for Periop/OR RN’s, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers (this position is not exempt)
• Background checks, education verification, and various health documents are required (see below)
• Must complete facility-specific orientation and competency exams
• Fit mask test required within 12 months of start date (specific respirators approved)
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations accepted)
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations accepted)
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination/documentation required (no declinations accepted)
• Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
• Minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment required
• Skills checklist and competency exams must be current and completed annually

This is a travel Registered Nurse position in a specialized Cardiac/Pediatric ICU setting requiring at least 2 years of RN experience, with BLS, PALS, and ACLS certifications. The role involves working 12-hour shifts with every other weekend required and floating between cardiac stepdown and PICU units. Prior travel experience is not required, but Indiana RN license must be current and in hand. The position has strict immunization, background, and competency requirements, and locals are not eligible.
