Travel/Contract Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical - MS-Telemetry)

Location: Bucyrus, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Must have a willingness to float to other campuses (MS-Tele Units) if census drops to maintain hours.
• On Call: If placed on call, must arrive at the hospital within 1 hour when called in.
• Every Other Week (EOW) schedule is required.
• Submit all time off requests.
• Typical staffing ratios are 1:5.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio with primary source verification required within 30 days of start.
• Minimum of 2 years recent/consecutive experience in Medical Surgical Telemetry (MS-Tele) in an acute care/hospital setting, with experience within the last year.
• Completion of at least one travel assignment.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or AHA RQI certification.
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or AHA RQI certification.

Required Certifications & Licenses

• NURSYS verification required for all RNs within 30 days of start.

Required Skills & Knowledge

• Knowledge of medication scanning is required.

Compliance & Background Checks

• 7-year criminal background check required upon hire and updated annually.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for every contract renewal/extension.
• OH BCI and FBI fingerprint attestation required within 12 months of start and updated annually. Candidate may start with fingerprints pending only if there is a clear background check on file.

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months of start, updated annually.
• Fit mask testing required prior to start.
• TDAP vaccine within 10 years or signed declination.
• Negative TB test (2-step PPD or equivalent) within 12 months, updated annually.
• Required immunizations or titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination). Declinations not accepted for MMR and Varicella titers.
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start, updated annually and after any break in service of 2+ months.
• Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season or approved medical/religious exemption with masking during flu season.

Competency & Orientation

• Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually (must score 80% or higher).
• Completion of core training modules (Core Part I, II, III) within 12 months and updated annually.
• Completion of facility-specific onboarding, including Healthstream modules and unit-specific job description review/signing prior to start.
• Skills check-offs for specific procedures (e.g., Stat Strip Nova Glucometer, Aseptic Compounding - IV Medications) during first week onsite.

• Proof of 2 clinical references (hospital evaluations accepted).
• Complete employment application/resume.
• Review and sign facility attendance policy and traveler expectations.
• COVID-19 and Flu exemption forms required if applicable, subject to facility review.

Staffing Notes

• Floating to other MS-Tele units on different campuses may be required based on census.
• On-call availability with rapid response time expected.

This position is ideal for experienced Medical Surgical Telemetry RNs with prior travel experience who are flexible and able to work in a dynamic hospital environment.
