Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Odessa, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in the Main Operating Room
- Monday - Friday schedule with on-call duties: 1 weekday and 1 weekend per month
- Orientation: 3-4 days
- Exposure to robotic XI, orthopedic, spine/neuro, general/gyn, some ENT, some ophthalmology, pain management, urology, vascular, and Trauma Level 2 cases
Required Experience
- 3 years of experience strongly preferred in Operating Room nursing
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI acceptable
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI acceptable
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI acceptable
- Additional certifications may be required as applicable (e.g., NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, ENPC, NIH Stroke Certification) — refer to facility-specific requirements
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience in Orthopedics, Neurology, OB/GYN, ENT Surgery, Ophthalmology, Pain Management, Urology, Vascular Surgery, and Trauma
- Experience with Robotic XI surgical systems
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Background check (7-year, including SS Trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender) required and must be updated annually
- Drug screening (10-panel negative drug screen within 30 days of start)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit test for N-95 mask within 1 year, updated annually (specific mask types required)
- Immunizations and health requirements including:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year for TB test, 2 years for chest X-ray if positive)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or vaccination series required
- Hepatitis B: positive titer, series, or declination required
- Varicella: positive titer or vaccination series required
- Flu vaccine or declination during flu season (Oct-April)
- COVID initial series or facility-specific declination required (annual boosters not required)
Additional Requirements
- Must complete facility-specific orientation and safety training modules
- Pass/Fail testing on EKG/medications and pharmacology competency exam required
- 2 professional references within 3 years
- Resume/application required
- Skills checklist updated annually
- Compliance with facility standards of conduct, dress code, and behavior policies
- Annual TB questionnaire required
