Job Opportunity: RRT - NICU (Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics)
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Shift: 3x12-hour shifts, every other week (EOW) required
- Primary assignment in Labor & Delivery (L&D) with required L&D experience
- Must have minimum 2 years of NICU experience
- Children's Hospital experience required within the last 3 years; open to travelers with experience at a level 1 adult facility
- NICU or PICU experience required; may float to PICU and some Pediatric Acute Care units
- Home unit assignment will be NICU, PICU, or Pediatrics, with possible changes based on facility needs
Required Qualifications
- Valid Pediatric Respiratory Therapist license in Indiana
- Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- Respiratory Therapist experience in an Acute Care setting
- Experience working with Neonate and Pediatric patients
- OB Technician experience
- Certifications required:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of NICU experience
- Children's Hospital experience within the last 3 years preferred
- L&D experience required
- NICU or PICU experience required
- Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required (First Time Travelers Accepted)
Additional Requirements
- Valid Indiana State Respiratory Therapist License in hand before submission
- Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG required within 30-90 days of start
- Education verification and official transcripts/diplomas required
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months (specific respirators approved)
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred but not required)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Seasonal Flu vaccination/documentation required (no declinations accepted)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
- Color blind exam (Ishihara or equivalent) with 100% minimum score required
- Skills checklist and competency exams required annually
- Minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment within 2 years, with supervisory titles
Unit and Floating Information
- Primary units: NICU, PICU, Pediatrics
- Floating to PICU and some Pediatric Acute Care units as needed
Notes
- Indiana RN travelers will not be allowed to work at IU Health facilities effective 11/30/2024, except for Perioperative/OR and Allied health travelers (this does not affect RRTs)
- On-site fit testing is available only as a last resort with limitations
- Candidates must complete all required IU Health facility-specific forms and orientation packets prior to start
