Job Details

• Floating: May float between Belleville and East (Shiloh) locations and inpatient floors as needed

• Return to Office Restrictions: 7 days within 13-week contract
• Guaranteed Hours:

  • 36 hours/week for 3-12 hour shifts
  • 48 hours/week for 4-12 hour shifts

Special Requirements / Skills

• Insertion of central lines, arterial lines, chest tubes
• Post cardiac arrest hypothermia care
• Intubations
• Participation in code strokes, code STEMI, code blue teams
• Trauma patient care
• Pediatric patient care and transfers
• Sexual assault cases
• Mental health patient boarding until placement

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only; PALS RQI accepted with quarterly renewal and transcript
• NIH Stroke Certification (annual renewal unless otherwise specified)
• CPR certifications (RQI cards not accepted)

Preferred Certifications:

• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) or MAB (Management of Assaultive Behavior)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)

Required Licenses

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Illinois (permanent license required; temporary licenses not accepted)
• Primary source verification of professional license required

Compliance & Background Requirements

• Government-issued ID required
• Criminal background check within 6 months (7-year search including statewide, nationwide, sex offender, and international if applicable)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM checks (quarterly)
• HHS/OIG checks (quarterly)
• Illinois fingerprinting required for assignments at or floating to long-term care or rehab units
• Education verification of highest nursing degree required (no pending at start)
• Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include specific panels and be valid throughout assignment
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask test (annual renewal)
• Immunizations and health screenings:

  • Tdap (every 10 years) or declination
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray (with yearly questionnaire)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (required during flu season)
• HIPAA Acknowledgement, Latex Allergy Questionnaire, Confidentiality Form, Hand Hygiene Policy, Fingernail Policy, Dress Code Policy - all must be reviewed and signed prior to start
• Regulatory Compliance Education and Orientation Modules (approx. 16 hours) required annually via WorkRamp

Competency Requirements

• Unit-specific competency exams (annual renewal)
• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam (must meet passing score)
• Color blind testing (online; 100% required)

Requirements / Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
• Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
• Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Current PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience working with pediatric patients
• Experience in an acute care setting

This position is ideal for ER Registered Nurses with at least 2 years of experience who are comfortable working nights in a fast-paced, acute care Magnet hospital setting. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
