Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER) - Travel/Contract
Location: Fayetteville, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Position: Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room (ER)
- Ratios: 1 nurse to 5-6 patients
- Required ER experience: 3 years
- First-time travelers accepted
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: Required within scope to meet facility needs (may float between like units)
- Locals not accepted (50-mile radius rule applies)
- Pending license not accepted
- Return staff policy: Must be gone for 1 year to return as a traveler
- System contract limit: 2 contracts max (can extend once), then must be gone for 6 months before returning

Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience in an Acute Care setting
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Prior Travel Experience
- Not required (first-time travelers accepted)
Background and Health Requirements
- Background check required within 6 months of start (includes SSN trace, 7-year county residence, nationwide search, sex offender search, international search if applicable)
- Physical exam required within 1 year, signed by physician, NP, or PA-C; must be updated annually
- Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within last 10 years, no declinations accepted)
- Measles (Rubeola) - titer or 2 vaccines
- Mumps - titer or 2 vaccines
- Rubella - titer or 2 vaccines
- Hepatitis B - vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination accepted
- Varicella - titer or 2 vaccines
- TB screening: Negative PPD, Q Gold, or Tspot within 1 year; chest X-ray if positive PPD (not older than 5 years)
- Flu vaccine required year-round; medical or religious exemptions accepted with facility approval (exemptions must be resubmitted annually)
- COVID-19 vaccine not required but accepted if available
Scheduling and Work Conditions
- Weekend shifts required every other weekend
- Floating between similar units may be required
- Call off policy: 2 shifts per 13-week assignment allowed; after that, all contracted hours guaranteed
- Block scheduling accommodation possible
- Return staff and contract limits apply as noted above
Additional Notes
- Professional appearance and facility-specific policies must be acknowledged and signed prior to start
- Photo for badge required (passport-style, no large earrings, face piercings, unnatural hair colors, or head coverings unless for religious reasons)
- Multiple facility-specific forms and agreements must be completed prior to start
- Orientation typically occurs on Monday, with schedule provided by unit representative
This position offers an opportunity to work in a Level III Trauma Center with a supportive environment for ER nurses with at least 3 years of experience. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
