Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Telemetry

Location: Stockbridge, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a telemetry unit caring for adult to geriatric patients. This is a travel contract position requiring prior travel experience.


Required Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of specialty experience in telemetry nursing.
  • Prior travel experience required (1st timers not accepted).

Patient Population

  • Adults to Geriatrics
  • Conditions include: IMCU overflow, arrhythmia management, cardioversion, cardiac CHF, chest pain, renal, pulmonary (COPD, pulmonary edema), PE, DVT, stable cardiac arrhythmias (A-Fib, SVT, Bradycardia), surgical patients (cholecystectomy, appendectomy, chest tubes, biliary drains), occasional vascular patients, post cardiac cath, TR bands, DKA, occasional ortho or CVA overflow.

Clinical Skills & Responsibilities

  • Experience with cardiac drips and hemodynamic monitoring post PCI.
  • Knowledge of cardiac drips including amiodarone, cardizem, dobutamine, dopamine, nitroglycerin, milrinone, heparin, argatroban, aggrastat, bumex, and lasix.
  • Basic arrhythmia knowledge required.
  • Manage a patient ratio of approximately 1:5-6 on a 32-bed unit.
  • Use of Epic (preferred), Pyxis, and SBAR communication system.
  • Floating within the facility as needed.
  • Call is rare with a 2-hour response time.

Schedule & Work Conditions

  • Weekend shifts every other weekend.
  • Expected to work major holidays if they fall within the assignment period (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day).
  • Return to orientation (RTO) within 7 days.

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Current Registered Nurse license in Georgia.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.

Compliance & Screening

  • Full compliance with orientation and credentialing required to start on time.
  • Clinical screening to determine fit before final approval.

Health & Background Requirements

  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start.
  • Background check completed within 30 days prior to start.
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start.
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months.
    • TB questionnaire updated annually.
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer.
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer.
    • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination.
    • Flu vaccination or declination during flu season.
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap highly recommended.

Competency Exams

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam.
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (3 attempts allowed; failure results in cancellation).
  • Color blind testing.
  • General competency exam for nursing.

Additional Notes

  • Scrub color: Navy Blue.
  • Locals accepted at the same rate.
  • Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Minimum 1 year of Med Surg/Telemetry experience within the last year.
  • One year or more of total travel nursing experience.
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Experience working with adult and geriatric patients.
  • Experience with cardiac drips and hemodynamic monitoring.
  • Experience with TR Bands.

This position is ideal for a telemetry RN with solid cardiac experience and prior travel contract experience looking for a 14-week travel assignment in Georgia.
