Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Ashtabula, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Night shift, 7 PM to 7 AM
• Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday
• Float Requirement: Must be willing to float to Medical/Surgical unit if needed (e.g., low ICU census)

Required Experience

• Minimum 18 months ICU experience (1.5 years)

Required Licenses & Certifications

• License: Must have a permanent Ohio RN license or a compact state license in hand
• Certifications:

  • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (must obtain prior to start)
• Electronic Medical Record: Must have Epic experience

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio
• Minimum 1.5 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
• Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience working with Pediatric, Neonate, Infant, and Maternal-Fetal patients
• Experience with Epic electronic medical record system

Required Qualifications & Compliance

• Valid government-issued photo ID required on assignment
• Background checks including FBI and BCI fingerprinting within 12 months, updated annually
• Physical exam within one year of start, confirming ability to safely perform job functions
• Immunizations and health requirements:

  • Tdap vaccine every 10 years (medical exemptions reviewed case-by-case)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray as applicable
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Annual flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually
• Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start
• Unit-specific competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency as applicable
• References: Two professional references within one year of start from a manager, supervisor, or charge nurse
• Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care in a similar area

Additional Notes

• Candidates will be fit tested onsite during orientation
• Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing; results required prior to extension
• Must renew certifications if expiring within 30 days of start
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required annually
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred but not required

Prior Travel Experience

• No explicit prior travel experience required

This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs licensed in Ohio or compact states, comfortable with night shifts and flexible floating duties, and who meet the comprehensive credentialing and health requirements.
