Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Ortho Specialty)
Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, Nights (7 PM - 7 AM), Every Other Weekend (EOW), Holiday rotation
- Call: No call required
- Patient Ratio: 1:6 (possible stretch to 1:7)
- Specialty Focus: Orthopedic and Trauma nursing
- Patient Types: Elective and trauma patients, specializing in pre-op and post-op ortho care
- Procedures: Total hip, knee, and shoulder replacements and repairs; ortho trauma
- Equipment: Use of safe patient handling equipment and ortho-specific devices such as CPM, knee immobilizer, bone foam, etc.
- Technology: EPIC electronic health record system required
- Team: Use of Rapid Response Teams
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of orthopedic nursing experience, including ortho trauma experience
- Orthopedic nursing experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Medication Administration Badge (MAB)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
- Social Security Card
- Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Education verification (Associate’s degree in nursing or higher)
- Transcript/Diploma as proof of highest education
- Physical exam (if applicable)
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B titer or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
- Fingerprinting (if applicable for position)
- References: Two supervisory references required from recent assignments
- Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
- Work history verification for last 5 years
- Skills checklist updated annually
Additional Requirements
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing (EPIC and Dysrhythmia/EKG)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Color Blind Testing (if applicable)
- Competency exams with minimum passing scores
- Facility-specific documents including dress code, floating policy, contractor equipment acknowledgement, and onboarding tasks
