Job Opportunity: NICU Registered Nurse

Location: Tyler, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: 3 shifts, 12-hour day shifts
  • Unit: 9-bed NICU unit with potential expansion to 16 beds
  • Patient Care: No surgical procedures except circumcisions and frenectomy; retinopathy of prematurity exams provided as needed
  • Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 3 patients
  • Special Features: Donor breast milk available for specific populations; lactation support with 2 full-time IBCLCs and peer counselors
  • Electronic Health Record: EPIC experience required
  • Call: No call required
  • Local Restrictions: Candidates residing in certain counties are not eligible

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
  • Minimum 3 years of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system

Summary

This is a travel contract NICU RN position in Tyler, Texas requiring a minimum of 3 years NICU experience and prior travel experience. The role involves day shifts with a 1:3 patient ratio in a specialized neonatal unit. Candidates must hold appropriate RN licensure and certifications, meet health and immunization requirements, and complete all background and competency verifications.
