Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Bristol, Tennessee
Specialty: Registered Nurse (ICU)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule
- 36/36 schedule (36 hours on, 36 hours off)
- 4 weekend shifts per schedule period
- No call required
- Floating to PCU with some possible float to Medical-Surgical when needed
Required Experience
- Minimum 1 year of ICU nursing experience
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
- AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
- AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- NURSYS Verification required
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC) but not mandatory for this role
Orientation & Training
- General orientation begins on Sundays (online CBLs)
- 16 hours of non-billable orientation required
- Hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
- Additional overtime shifts may be available and flexed as needed
Additional Job Responsibilities
- Participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care
Candidate Requirements
- Must live at least 100 miles from the facility
- First-time travel nurses accepted (no prior travel experience required)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Education verification required
- Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check if licensed or working in Tennessee
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required annually)
- Drug screening (9 panel) within 14 days of start
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (vaccine or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) titers or vaccination documentation
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
- Varicella titer or vaccination documentation
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
- Respirator medical evaluation questionnaire and clearance required within 48 hours of contract signing
- Respiratory fit testing completed onsite (previous fit tests from non-facility sources not accepted)
- Photo for badge within 48 hours of contract signing
- Compliance with facility-specific dress code, uniform guidelines, and safety policies
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
- Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience within the last year
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
