Travel/Contract Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

Location: Greensburg, Pennsylvania
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide care in Labor and Delivery, including:

  • Performing vaginal exams
  • Assisting in vaginal deliveries
  • Circulating in C-section deliveries
• Start IVs and draw blood
• Assist with stabilization of newborns post-delivery using Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) skills
• Recognize and respond to complications such as postpartum hemorrhage and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy

Required Qualifications

• License: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Pennsylvania
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) preferably from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferably from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Experience: Minimum years of specialty experience not explicitly stated; assume at least standard experience for Labor and Delivery RN roles (typically 1+ years)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Required Documents and Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Background checks within 30 days of start, including:

  • SS Trace and County searches (last 7 years)
  • Nationwide and Sex Offender searches
  • Pennsylvania Statewide background check (Patch Certificate)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Pennsylvania Department of Human Services fingerprinting results required prior to start
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (with annual TB questionnaire if applicable)
• Immunizations or titers for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination)
  • Varicella
• Negative 15-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or documented declination during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 1)
• Completion of facility-specific orientation and training checklists prior to start, including:

  • Orientation checklist
  • Pandemic attestation
  • Code of conduct
  • Confidentiality agreement
  • Disclosure statement
  • Assessment of patient policy
  • Interdisciplinary plans of care
  • Skin integrity, mobility, catheter training
  • Cardiac procedure education (for telemetry units)
  • Competency assessments and exams (medication/pharmacology competency, general competency exam with minimum passing score of 80%)
• References: 2 professional references for travel, allied, or per diem acute care within 3 years

Additional Notes

• Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced Labor and Delivery environment with the ability to recognize and respond to obstetric emergencies
• All required documentation and certifications must be current and uploaded prior to assignment start date
