Travel/Contract Registered Nurse (PCU)
Location: Leonardtown, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with experience in PCU/IMC/Stepdown settings. The role includes float responsibilities to Telemetry and Medical-Surgical units as needed.
Schedule
- Shift: 1845 - 0715 (3x12 hour shifts)
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call required
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
- PCU/IMC/Stepdown experience required
- First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience NOT required)
Required Certifications & Exams
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC certified
- Must pass Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with:
- Minimum overall score of 80%
- 100% score on lethal rhythms section
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maryland
- Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year
- Intermediate Care (IMC) experience
- Stepdown unit experience
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Ability to float to Telemetry and Medical-Surgical units as needed (ratios 1:5 or 1:6)
- Must be able to work every other weekend
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Criminal background check within 90 days, including multi-state searches
- E-Verify and I9 documentation required
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Immunizations and health documentation including:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (updated annually)
- Tdap vaccine within last 10 years preferred
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) documentation or titers
- Hepatitis B titer or series completion
- Varicella documentation or titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
- N95 Fit Test within 9 months and updated annually
Additional Requirements
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam with minimum 80% score within 3 years of start
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam updated annually with required scores as above
- Annual safety manual acknowledgement and facility-specific orientation modules completion
Notes
- Float assignments to Telemetry and Medical-Surgical units required as needed
- Unit staffing ratios: 1:5 or 1:6 depending on unit
- No call required
