Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Brownwood, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
  • Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, with recent experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Proficiency in Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)

Certifications (AHA Only unless otherwise noted)

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – as applicable
  • CHEMO (Chemotherapy) – as applicable
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – as applicable
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – as applicable
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) – as applicable
  • NIH Stroke Certification – as applicable, with annual updates required
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) – required for Telemetry RNs (may apply)

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year background check required within 1 year of start; updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Education verification (highest level) or transcript/diploma required
  • Texas-specific employability and employee misconduct registry checks required within 30 days of start

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing)
  • Fit mask test (3M 1860 Regular or 1860S), updated annually
  • TDAP vaccine within 10 years of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (PPD or QGold/Tspot) within 1 year of start; annual TB questionnaire required
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines; boosters required if non-immune
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted; booster or declination post titer if low/equivocal
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if non-immune
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen with THC within 10 business days prior to start; no pending results allowed
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or exemption required for 2025-26 season

Competency and Skills

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
  • Color Blind Testing (online Ishihara version accepted)
  • Competency exams as applicable by profession
  • Skills checklist required and updated annually
