Job Opportunity: CVOR Registered Nurse
Location: New Haven, Connecticut
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Must independently scrub cardiac surgery and circulate in the CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room)
- Work schedule: 40 hours per week, consisting of 2 twelve-hour shifts and 2 eight-hour shifts per week
- Shift times: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM or 10:45 AM - 7:15 PM
- Average nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2
- Weekend requirement: Two 24-hour calls per schedule
- On-call requirement: 2 calls per Monday-Friday week (either 7 PM - 11 PM or 7 PM - 7 AM) with 1 day per week available to stay late
- Floating: Clinician may float within scope to meet facility needs
- Pending license accepted, but must have active license prior to start date
- First-time travelers accepted
- Guaranteed hours
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Connecticut
- Minimum 2 years of CVOR experience, with CVOR experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Ability to independently scrub and circulate cardiac surgery
Additional Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year criminal background check, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, sex offender search, and education verification
- Foreign equivalency education evaluation required for internationally educated RNs
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months of start, updated annually
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation required
- Drug screening (10 panel) within 12 months of start
- Required health vaccinations and titers (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B) or medical/religious exemptions
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
- COVID vaccination preferred
- Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and color blind testing required
- Various facility-specific training modules and attestations required (e.g., Stroke Education, CLABSI Prevention, Preventing Pressure Injury, Language Services, CAUTI Education, Patient Transportation with Oxygen, Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment, Pyxis ES MedStation, Baxter Pump Interoperability, Patient Bedside Rounding, Ventricular Assist Device Awareness, Blood Administration, New Employee Orientation, 21st Century Cures Act, ED Handbook, eCart Training, Chaperone Policy Training)
- References: One supervisor reference within the past year required for Cardio Thoracic ICU/CTICU assignments (charge nurse references not accepted)
- Employment application must include 7-year work history with no gaps greater than 90 days
- Work history verification required for last 7 years
- Attestation of prior radiation exposure required for certain units including CVOR
