Location: New Haven, Connecticut

Job Details

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Connecticut
  • Minimum 2 years of Oncology nursing experience, with Oncology experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

  • Not explicitly required

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 12 months of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Education verification including foreign equivalency for internationally educated RNs
  • State license primary source verification within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS license verification within 30 days of start
  • Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 12 months of start, updated annually (clean shaven required)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation required
  • Annual TB questionnaire required
  • Immunizations and titers required or exemptions for:
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (vaccination series or declination)
    • Tdap (highly preferred for certain specialties)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season
  • COVID vaccination preferred

Competency and Training Requirements

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required within 12 months of start (85% passing score)
  • Color blind testing required for all candidates starting on/after 8/2/2024 (80% passing score)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for certain units (not required for Oncology)
  • Various facility-specific training modules and attestations required, including but not limited to:
    • Stroke Education (not required for Oncology)
    • CLABSI Prevention
    • Preventing Pressure Injury
    • Language Services Training
    • CAUTI Education Training
    • Patient Transportation with Oxygen Education
    • Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment Training
    • Pyxis ES MedStation Modules
    • Baxter Pump Interoperability Training
    • Patient Bedside Rounding
    • Ventricular Assist Device Awareness
    • Blood Administration Module (except Behavioral Health and Case Managers)
    • New Employee Orientation
    • 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for RN except Home Health)
    • Chaperone Policy Training
    • EPIC testing or training (highly encouraged)
    • ED Handbook (not applicable for Oncology)
    • eCart Training Module (not required for Oncology)

Work History and References

  • 7-year work history with no gaps greater than 90 days required
  • Employment verification for last 7 years required
  • One supervisor reference within the past year required for ICU assignments (not applicable here)

  • RTO (Return to Office) restrictions: RTO greater than 7 days requires approval
  • Scrub color: Royal blue
