Job Opportunity: CRT NICU - Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics

Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
  • Unit Beds: 16
  • Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
  • Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (CRT NICU)
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty (higher value confirmed)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not accepted for first-time travelers; prior travel experience required

Job Expectations

  • Upon assignment, you may be required to join an "Emergency Team" during emergency events and remain onsite until the event passes or be part of a relief team.
  • Candidates must be comfortable with emergency event assignments as directed by the unit manager.

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or RQI accepted
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or RQI accepted
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Required; CRT acceptable in lieu of RRT

Required Licenses

  • Active Louisiana state license or Compact license for Respiratory Therapist (CRT) upon submission and throughout assignment
  • License renewal must be completed prior to start if expiring within 30 days

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Louisiana
  • Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience
  • Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
  • At least one completed travel assignment
  • Experience as a Tech Respiratory Therapist
  • Current ACLS certification
  • Current BLS certification
  • Current NRP certification

Required Documents & Compliance

  • Valid Driver’s License or government-issued photo ID (color copy)
  • 7-year Criminal Background Check within 90 days of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
  • Education verification of highest level completed
  • Sex Offender Search within 30 days of start, updated monthly
  • Physical exam within 12 months indicating good health
  • Fit mask testing (N95) within 1 year of start; onsite fit testing available if needed
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start, initiated within 24-48 hours of offer acceptance
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if applicable)
    • TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 12 months, updated annually
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella – positive titer or completed vaccine series
    • Hepatitis B – positive titer, completed vaccine series, or booster with declination if applicable
    • Varicella – positive titer or completed vaccine series
  • Seasonal flu vaccination, declination, or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 30)
  • Employment application and updated skills checklist (annual)
  • Competency exam specific to specialty, minimum 80%, updated annually

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must not be first-time travelers; prior travel experience is required.
  • Emergency preparedness and participation in emergency response teams are mandatory.
  • Compliance with all background checks, certifications, and health requirements is strictly enforced.

This position is ideal for experienced Respiratory Therapists with Neonatal ICU expertise who are comfortable with travel assignments and emergency response duties.
