Job Opportunity: Pediatric Echo Tech (Echo Tech Cardiac Sonographer Pediatrics)
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Specialty: Pediatric Echocardiography (Radiology / Cardiology)
- Daily Caseload: 4-10 patients per tech
- Shift: Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts with staggered start times between 6:30 AM and 8:00 AM
- No weekend, holiday, or on-call requirements
- Floating between hospital and North Charleston clinic
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an Echo Technologist, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with pediatric patients and proficiency in scanning pediatric echocardiograms
- Proficiency in complex congenital heart defects
- Pediatric Echocardiography experience
- Current BLS certification
- Registered Pediatric Sonographer certification required:
- ARDMS with PE certification or
- CCI with RCCS certification
- Certifications must be current and in hand at time of start
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Complete employment application/resume with no unaccounted gaps
- Background checks including:
- 7-year residential/employment history
- SSN trace, state and national criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder if needed
- Primary source verification of state license/certification (South Carolina)
- Drug screening: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
- Physical exam: Initial and updated annually, attesting ability to meet job demands
- Fit test for N95 mask within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccination series)
- Varicella (positive titer or vaccination series)
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- TB testing: T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days of start; annual TB questionnaire required
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Color blindness testing required prior to start
- Competency exams as applicable
Orientation & Facility Requirements
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start (approx. 2 hours)
- Upload clear, passport-style badge photo prior to start
- Upload vaccination records (COVID, flu) into facility system
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks; guaranteed hours subject to this policy
- Travelers assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June-November)
Additional Notes
- Locals may be considered on a case-by-case basis
- Floating between multiple locations required
- No radiation badge required for this pediatric echo tech role
- Must be proficient in complex congenital heart disease scanning
- First-time travelers accepted; prior travel experience not mandatory
