Job Opportunity: RRT Pediatrics (Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics)
Location: Greenville, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift Details
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Weekend coverage every other weekend
- Floating required to other qualified units as needed
Patient Population
- Pediatric floors, PICU, ER, NICU
Required Experience
- At least 1 year of experience with EPIC documentation system
- Experience in ER, Pediatric Critical Care, and Pediatric settings
Required Certifications and Licenses
- South Carolina Respiratory Therapist License (RRT)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Key Job Requirements
- Must be able to float to other Prisma Health units/campuses as requested, only to units where qualified and competent
- Medication systems used: Pyxis and Omnicell
- Must demonstrate and document competencies for floating units

Compliance and Documentation Requirements
Background Checks
- 7-year background check within 12 months of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter
- Fingerprinting required if applicable (e.g., if lived/worked in WV in last 7 years)
Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
- BLS – AHA or ARC only
- PALS – AHA or ARC only
- NRP – AHA Advanced only
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – may be required depending on unit
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – as applicable
- Tech Certification (NBRC RRT or CRT) – must be current and verified
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (HIPAA, OSHA/TJC training)
- STABLE, ENPC, CPI, MAB, NIH Stroke Certification – as applicable based on unit
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) – required for RNs and certain techs; must pass with 84%
Health Documents
- Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet job demands
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years if working/floating in high-risk areas)
- Negative TB test (True 2-step PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or Tspot within 90 days)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella – positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination
- Varicella – positive titer or 2 vaccines
- Flu vaccine or approved exemption (not required for 100% remote)
- Drug screening within 1 year and updated annually (5 panel minimum)
Competencies and Training
- Annual medication/pharmacology competency exam
- Annual Core Parts I, II, and III training (including universal precautions, cultural diversity, pain management, harassment, fire safety, blood-borne pathogens, age-specific care, TJC National Patient Safety Goals)
- Color blindness testing for nurses in ER and pediatric ER
Facility Specific
- Badge photo required (passport style, light background, no obstructions)
- Completion of online Cornerstone modules within 72 hours of assignment
- Floating policy acknowledgment required (annual)
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Pediatric Respiratory Therapist license in South Carolina
- Minimum of 1 year of Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- Experience working with Pediatric and Neonate patients
- Experience in Acute Care and Inpatient settings
- Proficient with EPIC documentation system
- Current certifications: BLS, PALS, and NRP
Summary
This is a 13-week travel contract for a Pediatric Respiratory Therapist (RRT) working night shifts in a pediatric critical care environment including PICU, ER, and NICU. The role requires flexibility to float to other qualified units, strong pediatric critical care experience, and multiple certifications including SC RRT license, BLS, NRP, and PALS. Compliance with extensive background checks, immunizations, drug screening, and facility-specific training and testing is mandatory.
