Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Tech
Location: Durham, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 26 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
- Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM EST
- Weekend Requirement: None
- On-Call Requirement: None
- Scrub Color: Wine or maroon
- Start Date: March 2023 starts only
- First-Timer Travel: Not accepted (prior travel experience required)
- Local Candidates: Accepted within 75 miles
Required Qualifications
- Valid Nuclear Medicine Technologist license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel assignment as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- ARRT(N) or NMTCB certification
- Required charting experience with EPIC system
- Flu vaccination required; no exemptions or declinations accepted
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Nuclear Medicine Tech license/certification from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with Nuclear Medicine (N) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (CNMT) credentials
- BLS certification (AHA)
- Additional certifications may be required based on unit specifics (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP) – refer to orientation/unit details
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 90 days of start, including SSN trace, county, alias, nationwide, sex offender, international (if applicable), and education verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 90 days of start
- Education verification confirming graduation from an AMA-approved Nuclear Medicine Technology training program
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask (N95 or equivalent) within 12 months of start
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella vaccinations or positive titers (no exemptions)
- Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination (required for new candidates starting October through March; no exemptions)
- Polio vaccine or signed attestation
Additional Requirements
- Must set up a Duke Guest Account prior to clearance to access orientation and work systems
- Completion of online orientation modules prior to start
- Competency exams and unit-specific training during orientation
- Two professional references from employment within the last 12 months, including at least one supervisor
- Employment application and skills checklist updated annually
- Pass/fail testing on basic tech knowledge during orientation (minimum 80% to pass)
Notes
- Candidates with less than a 30-day gap between previous Duke assignments may have some document requirements waived or accepted on file
- Orientation sessions held bi-weekly
- No weekend or on-call shifts required for this position
