Job Description

• Minimum of 3 years recent full-time experience as a CVOR Certified Surgical Technologist in a high-volume hospital setting.
• Must demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of cardiac, thoracic, and vascular procedures.
• Candidates with less experience or requiring extensive onboarding will not be considered.
• Must provide verifiable references from at least two prior travel assignments confirming no training was needed.
• Ability to function independently in a fast-paced surgical environment and “hit the ground running.”
• Schedule: 3 shifts, 11:00 AM – 11:30 PM on weekdays (based on department need).
• Additional weekend call coverage required for the service line after normal business hours and weekends.
• Weekend shifts: Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM.

Required Qualifications

• License: Current Certified Surgical Technologist license valid in Texas.
• Certifications:

  • BLS (AHA) certification required.
• Must complete and maintain:

  • Specialty competency exams and core competencies with minimum passing scores.
  • Surgical Technologist onboarding education attestation.
• Health and immunization requirements including:

  • MMR (proof of two vaccines or positive titer, no declinations accepted).
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination.
  • Influenza vaccine (seasonal, exemptions accepted with mask requirement).
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination (no declinations accepted).
  • Tdap vaccination (valid for 10 years, no declinations accepted).
  • TB screening: Positive IGRA or PPD results, negative chest X-ray within one year, and annual TB questionnaire.
  • Fit test for respiratory protection (annual).
• Drug screening: 12-panel drug screen completed within 30 days prior to assignment start and updated annually.
• Background checks and verifications:

  • Criminal background check including SSN trace, OIG search, National Sex Offender registry, and others within 30 days prior to assignment.
  • Employment and education verifications.
  • EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check within 90 days prior to start.
• Must provide a valid driver’s license or state ID.
• Health statement or physical exam completed prior to first assignment and updated annually.

Experience Requirements

• Specialty Experience: Minimum 3 years as a CVOR Certified Surgical Technologist.
• Prior Travel Experience: Required. Must provide references from at least two prior travel assignments confirming no training was needed.

Work Environment

• Fast-paced surgical environment focused on cardiac, thoracic, and vascular procedures.
• Independent work expected with minimal onboarding.
• Shift work including weekdays and weekend night shifts.

This position is ideal for experienced CVOR Certified Surgical Technologists who have prior travel experience and are ready to work independently in a high-volume surgical setting.
