Job Description
- Must be comfortable with a 1:6 patient ratio.
- Patients typically require Progressive Care Unit (PCU) level of care.
- Floating within scope of practice is required.
- Orthopedic and total joint replacement nursing care experience is strongly preferred.
- Weekend shifts required every other weekend.
- No block scheduling allowed.
- Mandatory clinical orientation week: 5 shifts (36-40 hours).
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Florida.
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
- Experience caring for patients in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting.
- Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Licensure
- NURSYS verification required.
Additional Requirements
- Must be greater than 30 miles from the facility (no local candidates).
- Floating required within scope.
- Must complete facility-specific job description and orientation modules prior to start.
- Must work assigned holidays and evening shifts as required during assignment.
- 3 call outs result in termination.
- Notice requirements for shift changes: 48 hours or 1 week advance notice with consequences for refusal.
Compliance and Documentation
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID).
- Background check within 6 months including Social Security Trace, Counties, Nationwide, National Sex Offender, Education Verification.
- Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start.
- Education verification (ASN, BSN, or MSN).
- Physical exam within 6 months of start.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes.
- Drug screening (9 panel) within 3 months of start.
- COVID vaccination documentation or approved exemption.
- Flu vaccination documentation or declination (not required for contract workers).
- Required health documents for MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella with proof of immunity or signed waivers.
- Two professional references within two years.
- Performance evaluation within the last year if applicable.
- Skills checklist and competency exams with passing scores required.
- Completion of facility-specific orientation quizzes and acknowledgments.
- Fit mask testing to be completed onsite during first week.
