Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

Location: Lexington, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights


Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty (Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery)
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

Required Certifications and Skills

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - AAP only
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
  • EPIC electronic health record system experience
  • AWHONN Fetal Monitoring

Required Licenses

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Kentucky
  • NURSYS verification required

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Education verification matching specialty required prior to start (transcript or diploma acceptable if verification unavailable)
  • Drug screening: Negative 9-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required annually)
  • Fit mask test annually (with waiver process if failed)
  • TB testing: True 2-Step PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot within 1 year, updated annually
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required:
    • Tdap within 10 years
    • 2 MMR vaccines or IgG titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella
    • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer, series, or declination
    • 2 Varicella vaccines or IgG titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • COVID-19 vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required

Additional Requirements

  • 2 professional references required
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required, updated annually
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
  • Color Blind Testing Online required prior to start
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required for RNs in maternity services (updated annually)
  • Pass/Fail EKG test required for Med Surg/Tele, Tele, and ICU units (may apply depending on unit)
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification may be required per specialty/unit

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) proficiency
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Notes

  • Driver’s license required if driving is a major job function
  • Badge photo required (clear, unedited, solid background)
  • Separate background check approvals required for different facilities within the system
  • Work history verification required if background check reveals issues (verify last 2 years, explain gaps over 30 days)
