Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel Position

Location: San Antonio, Texas
Specialty: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Shift: Nights, 7 PM - 7 AM
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Patient Population

  • Neonatal (NEO) and pediatric patients
  • Work settings include PICU, NICU, and Pediatric ER

Job Summary

Responsible for pulmonary care of critical, non-critical, and chronically ill neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients under physician direction with minimal supervision. Perform patient assessments and implement respiratory care plans. Conduct various technical and diagnostic respiratory therapy procedures throughout the hospital.


Key Responsibilities

  • Emergency response (Code Blue and White)
  • Airway management including nasotracheal and endotracheal suctioning
  • Delivery of aerosolized medications
  • Ventilator setup and management
  • Oral hygiene and airway device placement/maintenance
  • Management of BiPAP and CPAP devices
  • Oxygen delivery and therapeutic monitoring
  • Chest film analysis and blood gas collection/analysis
  • EKG analysis
  • Accurate documentation
  • Equipment cleaning and stocking
  • Participation in CAP and JC surveys
  • May serve as Shift Leader or Team Leader
  • Advanced skills may include:
    • Therapeutic gas management (INO, HeO2)
    • Pulmonary function testing
    • Bronchoscopy assistance
    • Hemodynamic monitoring and waveform analysis
    • Nocturnal SpO2 evaluation (Desaturation Studies)
    • Polysomnography
    • Patient transport duties

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Texas
  • Minimum of 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience in an Acute Care setting
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NRP certification

Additional Information

  • Must be able to work in PICU, NICU, and Pediatric ER settings
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

Work Schedule

  • Full-time, night shift (7 PM - 7 AM)
