Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)

Location: Burlington, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Schedule: 3x12 hour shifts, nights (7 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Work every other weekend (EOW) and holidays as needed
  • Floating required: All travelers must float between all facilities in the system
  • Patient population: Inpatient with multiple co-morbidities, specialized in stroke (neuro) patients
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5-6

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience required
  • First-time travelers are welcome (prior travel experience not required)

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, with at least 1 year of recent experience in Med Surg / Telemetry
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience accessing ports
  • Experience with blood product administration
  • Experience in central line care and management
  • Experience in peripheral line care and management
  • Experience managing PICC lines
  • Experience starting IVs
  • Telemetry experience, including remote monitoring
  • Experience caring for stroke patients

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • Pass/Fail EKG/Dysrhythmia exam required (2 attempts allowed, must score 82% or higher)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit
  • Other certifications may be required based on unit assignment (verify with program management)

Licensure

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for North Carolina
  • NURSYS verification required within 60 days of start

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Social Security Card
  • Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Education verification (Associate’s degree in nursing or higher required)
  • Transcript/Diploma as proof of highest education
  • Physical exam (if applicable)
  • Immunizations and health documents including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (Qgold/TSPOT within 6 months)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B titer or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
  • Fit mask test (annual) for N95 respirators (exceptions apply)
  • Fingerprinting required for Home Health and Long-Term Care positions only (not applicable here)
  • References: 2 supervisory references required, with at least one from within 12 months prior to start
  • Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
  • Work history verification for last 5 years

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be flexible with scheduling and aware of zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
  • Floating between facilities is mandatory for all travelers
  • Candidates must complete a Pass/Fail EKG exam regardless of specialty
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgement and floating policy acknowledgement required
  • Candidates must submit a professional badge photo meeting strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire)
  • EPIC test required for RNs and allied health starting 9/19/23 (2 attempts allowed)

This position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized neuro/stroke inpatient setting with a supportive team and a structured schedule. First-time travel nurses are encouraged to apply.
