Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)
Location: Burlington, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Schedule: 3x12 hour shifts, nights (7 PM - 7:30 AM), every other weekend (EOW), holidays as needed
- Float required: All travelers must be willing to float between all facilities within the health system
- Patient population: Inpatient unit with a variety of patients, specializing in stroke (neuro) care
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5 to 1:6
- Experience with multiple co-morbidities required
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience with accessing ports
- Experience with blood product administration
- PICC line management experience
- Wound vac management experience
- Telemetry experience
- Stroke patient care experience
Required Certifications
- Pass/Fail EKG/Dysrhythmia exam (required for all RNs)
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit (verify with manager)
- Other certifications such as PALS, NRP, TNCC, CPI may be preferred depending on unit
Licensure
- NURSYS verification required within 60 days of start
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card
- Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Education verification (Associate’s degree in nursing or higher required)
- Transcript/Diploma as proof of highest education
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (Qgold/TSPOT within 6 months)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B titer or declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
- Fit mask test (N95) completed within current calendar year and updated annually
- Fingerprinting required for certain positions (Home Health and Long-Term Care only)
- References: 2 supervisory references required from recent assignments (within 12 and 24 months)
- Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
- Work history verification for last 5 years
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be flexible with scheduling and aware of zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
- Must complete compliance documentation by deadline prior to start date
- Floating between facilities is mandatory for all travelers
- Pass/fail EPIC test required for RNs regardless of specialty
- Patient care involves specialized stroke/neuro population with complex needs
