Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Anchorage, Alaska
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Labor and Delivery RN to work in an acute care hospital setting with a focus on cultural sensitivity to the Alaska Native population. The unit cares for a complex patient population with significant social history and domestic violence considerations.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Alaska
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, with experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification

- Locals accepted: No (local radius rule: 50 miles)
- Guaranteed Hours: Up to 40 hours per week
- Charting System: Cerner
- Scrub Color: Any color or pattern allowed; L&D/OR scrubs provided

Required Health and Compliance Documents
- Physical exam (annual renewal)
- Fit mask test (approved facility mask, annual renewal, must be completed prior to arrival)
- Proof of immunizations or titers for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (vaccine series, titer, or facility-specific declination)
- Varicella
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year) and annual TB questionnaire
- COVID-19 vaccination (initial series or approved alternatives; medical exemptions accepted with documentation; no declinations or religious exemptions)
- Drug screening (10-panel, within 30 days of start)
- References: 2 clinical references required
- Clinical skills checklist
Background and Facility Requirements
- Standard background check within 90 days of start
- Education verification and transcript/diploma (not required for RN)
- Facility-specific forms and orientation tasks must be completed prior to start
- HealthStream modules assigned during orientation must be completed
- No fingerprinting required for this facility

- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
- Cultural competency and sensitivity to the Alaska Native population are critical for success in this role.
- Floating within Labor & Delivery and Postpartum Unit is expected.
