Job Opportunity: CVOR Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: New Haven, Connecticut
Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care, Level I Trauma Center
Unit: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)


Contract Details

  • Length: 13 weeks
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Shift Options: Any shift accepted (5x8s, 3x12s, or mix of 12s and 8s)
  • Call Requirements:
    • Two 24-hour weekend calls in a 6-week block
    • Additional call during the week (Monday-Friday, 7p-11p or 7p-7a)
    • One day per week available to stay late
  • Patient Ratios: Average 1:2
  • Guaranteed Hours: Yes
  • Floating: Yes, within scope to meet facility needs

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Connecticut
  • Minimum 2 years of CVOR experience, with CVOR experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Ability to independently scrub and circulate in cardiac surgery

    • Stroke Education
    • CLABSI Prevention
    • Preventing Pressure Injury
    • Language Services
    • CAUTI Education
    • Patient Transportation with Oxygen
    • Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment
    • Pyxis ES MedStation
    • Baxter Pump Interoperability
    • Patient Bedside Rounding
    • Ventricular Assist Device Awareness
    • Blood Administration (annual update)
    • New Employee Orientation
    • 21st Century Cures Act Module
    • ED Handbook (for ED/ER RNs)
    • eCart Training Module
    • Chaperone Policy Training
  • EPIC testing or training may be required depending on prior experience
  • Mobile Heartbeat Alarm training required except for ER/ED, Pediatrics, ICU, and NICU

Additional Notes

  • RTO (Return to Office) restrictions: RTO greater than 7 days requires approval
  • Scrub color and charting system (Epic) provided
  • Parking available at a cost

Prior Travel Experience

  • Not explicitly required for this position

This role is ideal for experienced CVOR RNs who are comfortable with cardiac surgery procedures, flexible with shifts, and able to meet on-call demands. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
