Travel Registered Nurse (Stepdown Neuro)
Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Schedule: 3x12 hour shifts, nights (7 PM - 7 AM)
- Rotating weekends
- Float required as needed across all facilities
- Unit: 30-bed Medical Neuroscience Progressive Care Unit (Neuro PCU)
- Centralized Cardiac Monitoring Department provides patient monitoring
- Staff scheduled in 6-week periods via self-assisted scheduling system
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Neuro PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience with CVA (stroke) patients
- Experience with External CPAP/BiPAP
- Experience with TR band
- Experience with Yale Swallowing screen
Required Certifications
- Pass/Fail EKG (Dysrhythmia) Exam required (2 attempts allowed, must score 82% or higher)
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (must score 80% or higher)
- Other certifications may be required based on unit (verify with program management)
Required Licenses
- Primary source license verification required within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification required within 60 days of start
Skills and Competencies
- Ability to float across units as needed
- Flexibility with scheduling and adherence to zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card (required for badge)
- Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Transcript/Diploma for highest education level
- Physical exam (if applicable)
- Fit mask test (annual, specific approved N95 respirators required)
- Immunizations and titers: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, TB test or chest X-ray, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu vaccine or approved exemption
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
- References: 2 supervisory references required (one within 12 months, one within 24 months)
- Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
- Work history verification for last 5 years through third party
- Annual skills checklist with one-week grace period for renewal
Facility Specific Requirements
- Pass/Fail EKG exam required for all RNs regardless of specialty
- Floating policy acknowledgment required for all agency staff
- Badge photo meeting strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire)
- Completion of Health History Form prior to clearance
- Completion of EPIC test (online) with passing score required for RNs starting 9/19/23 (2 attempts allowed)
- Workday login and onboarding tasks must be completed before arrival
- Fingerprinting required only for Home Health and Long-Term Care positions (not applicable here)
Additional Notes
- Candidate must be flexible with scheduling and aware of strict attendance policies
- Self-scheduling system used for shift assignments
- Prior travel experience is NOT required for this position
