Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Telemetry)
Location: Dayton, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a mixed acuity unit caring for advanced care level patients, including experience with advanced care drips and step-down units.
- Target patient ratios typically 1:4, can be up to 1:5-6.
- Participate in team nursing or primary nursing models depending on unit needs.
- Must float to all Stepdown/Advanced Care units within the system.
- Floating assignments may include multiple campuses within a 15-mile radius.
- Must be available to work every other weekend and holidays.
- No holiday Return to Office (RTO) accepted beyond 7 days.
- No local candidates accepted.
- No travel partners allowed.
- 36 or 48-hour shifts accepted; overtime paid after 48 hours.
- No block scheduling.
- Must pass an online EKG telemetry competency assessment prior to starting.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio.
- Minimum 1.5 years of telemetry experience, with telemetry experience within the last year.
- Stepdown unit experience.
- Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Experience in an acute care setting.
- Ability to read and interpret EKG strips.
Additional Requirements
- Must complete and maintain all required background checks, including 7-year criminal background check, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG screenings.
- Drug screening required within 12 months prior to start, including marijuana panel (medical marijuana use not accepted).
- Physical exam within 2 years indicating fitness for work.
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray (with annual questionnaire if past positive)
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
- Completion of medication/pharmacology competency exam within 2 years.
- Completion of unit-specific competency exams within 2 years.
- Completion of Premier Health medical questionnaire for respiratory protection.
- References: 2 professional references within 2 years, including 1 manager/supervisor/charge RN.
- Current resume/application required.
- Skills checklist updated within 1 year.
Work Environment & Notes
- No medical exemptions accepted for contract.
- Travelers are not eligible for Premier Health employee incentives.
- Floating assignments may require travel between multiple campuses within the Dayton area.
- Must be able to pass all required competencies and certifications prior to start.
This position is ideal for experienced RNs with telemetry and step-down experience who are comfortable working in a fast-paced, mixed acuity environment and are flexible with floating assignments.
