Job Opportunity: RN PCU
Location: Murfreesboro, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit & Patient Population
- Unit Capacity: 36 beds
- Population Served: Stepdown/Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Patient Conditions Include:
- Continuous BiPAP
- Low-dose vasopressors
- Trauma patients
- Lumbar drains
- CIWA patients on higher doses of Ativan
- Hyponatremia
- Emergency dialysis patients
- Hyperkalemia
- Antifreeze ingestions
- Home ventilator patients (tracheostomies)
- Sheath removal
- Carotid endarterectomy (CEA)
- Rhabdomyolysis
- Precedex infusions
- Stroke patients with Q2 neuro checks
- Stable craniotomies
- Fentanyl drips
- Patient Age Range: Young Adult through Late Adult (18 - 60+)
- Nurse to Patient Ratio: 3:1
Required Qualifications
Licenses & Certifications
- Current RN license in Tennessee with primary source verification within 30 days prior to assignment start
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) certified
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA certified
- Nursys verification required within 30 days prior to start
- Driver’s License or State ID (must be valid and match address requirements)
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Proof of immunizations and health screenings including:
- MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer, no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
- Influenza vaccine (seasonal, exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or immunity evidence, no declinations accepted)
- Tdap (valid within 10 years, no declinations accepted)
- TB screening: Positive IGRA or PPD results, negative chest X-ray within 1 year, and annual TB questionnaire
- Fit Test for respiratory protection (updated annually)
- 2 Step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes
- Health Statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
- 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
- Color vision test completed prior to start and updated every 3 years
Competencies & Training
- Completion of core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, and National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG) within 1 year, updated every 3 years
- NIH Certification (updated yearly or every 2 years depending on group)
- EKG Exam with passing score of at least 80%, updated every 3 years
- Skills checklist completed within 1 year of start and updated annually
- Cerner test-out and training checklist completion required
- Onboarding education and contract worker onboarding completed prior to start
- Confirmation of assignment documentation required upon initial assignment and updates with extensions
Professional Verification & Background Checks
- Verification of education relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start
- Employment verification for the past 7 years, updated annually
- At least two professional references prior to first assignment
- Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and other required screenings within 30 days of assignment start, updated annually
- EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check within 90 days of start, rerun if break in service > 90 days

- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) in Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
