Job Description

• Provide nursing care for all Emergency Room patients.
• Must be comfortable and experienced in a charge nurse role.

Contract Length

• 12 weeks

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience as an RN in Emergency Room.
• Charge nurse experience required.

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• NIH Certification
• Ascension CPI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training, 8-hour course)

Required Licenses and Verifications

• Current RN license with Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start.
• License/Certificate verification within 30 days prior to start.

Required Exams and Testing

• Ascension Pharmacology Exam (minimum 80% score, updated every 3 years)
• Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, etc., minimum 80% score, updated every 3 years)
• Ascension EKG Exam (minimum 80% score, updated every 3 years)
• Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical, completed within 1 year of start, updated annually)
• 12 Panel Drug Screen (within 30 days prior to start, updated annually)

Required Health and Immunization

• MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted.
• Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination.
• Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement.
• Positive PPD or IGRA with negative chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire.
• Varicella: Proof of immunity or two doses of vaccine; no declinations accepted.
• Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted.
• Fit Test: Required annually; preferred prior to start.
• Health Statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.

Additional Requirements

• Driver’s License or State ID (must be valid and match home state for compact license).
• Professional references: At least two qualifying references prior to first assignment.
• Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender, and others within 30 days of assignment.
• Employment and education verifications completed within 90 days of start.
• Confirmation of assignment documentation required upon initial assignment and updates.
• Badge photo with white or blue background (no alterations).

Other Information

• Flu season mask policy applies from October 1, 2024 through March 31, 2025.
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.

This position is ideal for experienced ER RNs comfortable in leadership roles and meeting comprehensive certification and health requirements.
