Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (Travel)
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Summary
- Provide evaluation and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies.
- Assess patients to determine appropriate treatment types and frequency.
- Develop, implement, and monitor patient care plans and respiratory equipment.
- Perform advanced respiratory care modalities and administer medications.
- Educate patients and families about health conditions and available community resources.
- Respond to emergency resuscitation team codes.
- Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment.
Required Qualifications
Licensure / Certification
- Registered Respiratory Therapist credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Indiana Respiratory Care Committee.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
Preferred Certifications
- Advanced Life Support (ACLS) certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (American Academy of Pediatrics).
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent with 2 years of cumulative experience, OR
- Associate's or Technical degree, OR
- 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience.
Specialty Experience
- Minimum 4 years of experience in respiratory therapy (based on highest requirement interpretation).
Prior Travel Experience
- Not explicitly required.
Personal Protective Equipment
- Follow Standard Precautions and use personal protective equipment as required.
Additional Requirements
- Completion of core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA topics.
- Documentation of immunizations and health screenings including:
- MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B vaccination or declination documentation
- Influenza vaccine (seasonal) or mask requirement if declined
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Tdap vaccination (valid within 10 years)
- TB screening (PPD or IGRA with chest X-ray if positive)
- Fit testing for respiratory protection (annual requirement).
- Drug screening (12 panel) within 30 days prior to assignment start and annually thereafter.
- Criminal background checks, employment and education verifications, and professional references required.
- Valid driver’s license or state ID.
- Health statement or physical exam prior to first assignment and updated annually.
- Skills checklist to be completed within one year of start and updated annually.
