Job Opportunity: Oncology Chemo Certified Registered Nurse

Location: Tyler, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts
  • Specialty: Oncology Nursing (Outpatient Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy administration)
  • Patient Diagnoses: All cancer diagnoses including hematology malignant and non-malignant conditions
  • Charting System: Epic required

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
  • Minimum 2 years of Oncology nursing experience, with oncology experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Chemotherapy certification (CHEMO)
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License or State ID
  • I-9 Verification
  • E-Verify compliance
  • 7-year Background Check (including SS Trace, County searches, Nationwide, Sex Offender, Education Verification)
  • Education Verification (highest level)
  • Drug Screening (10-panel, within 90 days of start)
  • Physical Exam (within 12 months)
  • Fit Test (within 1 year, must be renewed annually)
  • Immunizations and Titers:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (within 1 year)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
    • Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history)
    • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved exemption (required during flu season)
  • Orientation Packet and Acknowledgement
  • Skills Checklist (unit-specific, annually)
  • Work History Verification (7 years)
  • References: Professional references required internally but not mandatory for clearance

Additional Notes

  • Candidates residing in certain counties in Texas are not eligible for this travel assignment.
  • Orientation and fingerprinting requirements may apply depending on location.
  • Candidates must complete all required competencies and pass exams with a minimum score of 80% or meet the Angoff score if higher.
  • Clear headshot photo required for badge issuance.

This position is ideal for experienced oncology nurses with outpatient chemotherapy expertise who have prior travel nursing experience and meet the certification and licensure requirements.
