Job Description

• Position involves floating between Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and Same Day Surgery (SDS).
• Patient populations include pediatric, adult, and geriatric.
• Experience with anesthesia for spinal, general, and cesarean section cases.
• On-call requirement: 24 hours every third weekend (Saturday/Sunday) plus 2-3 weekday calls from 8 PM to 8 AM.
• Schedule requests must be submitted and approved prior to offer.
• Both first-time travelers and local candidates are accepted.
• Manager interview required.
• Will consider candidates with 2 years of strong PACU experience; 3 years highly preferred.

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA required; RQI and instructor cards acceptable.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA required; RQI and instructor cards acceptable.
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA required; required for PACU.
• IV Certification - Required for all RNs; can be completed via specified CEUs or equivalent certification.

Required Licenses

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for New Jersey.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New Jersey.
• Minimum 2 years of PACU (Post Anesthesia Care) nursing experience, with experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• IV Certification.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Experience working with pediatric, adult, and geriatric patient populations.

Background and Compliance Requirements

• Criminal background check required within 30 days of start.
• Drug screening within 30 days of start.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes.
• Physical exam within the last 12 months confirming ability to perform essential job functions.
• Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually.
• Fit testing and respiratory medical clearance required prior to start.
• Color blindness exam required if job tasks require color discrimination.
• Completion of annual education and safety training (OSHA, HIPAA, Joint Commission).
• Medication and pharmacology competency exams required.
• Pass/fail testing for EKG and IV therapy required with remediation policy.
• References: Two references within the last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference.
• Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history required.
• Work history verification required for New Jersey candidates (minimum 1 year prior to start date).
