Job Opportunity: CVOR Tech

Location: Lake Charles, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (with option to start at 6 months/26 weeks)

Job Description

• Work schedule: 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts plus call coverage
• Call schedule shared among 3 CSTs, starting at 3:00 PM and ending at 6:00 AM, including one weekend per month
• Ability to perform a wide variety of professional services in surgical procedures related to cardiac, vascular, and thoracic cases
• Perform scrub functions including pulling necessary supplies/instrumentation and sterile field setup
• Ensure sterile procedures are followed, necessary equipment is available, and patient safety is maintained at all times
• Assist in setup of the TCVOR room in collaboration with the surgical team
• Physical demands: Must tolerate physically and mentally demanding work
• Typical shift hours: 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, or as required by the job
• Call required on weekends, evenings, holidays, and off-shifts

Required Qualifications

• CVOR Technologist with a minimum of 5 years of experience
• CVOR Technologist experience within the last year
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or certification from National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Additional Requirements

• Background check: 7-year criminal history check within a year of start, updated annually
• Physical exam: Initial and annual updates attesting ability to meet physical demands
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 30 days of start date
• Immunizations or titers required for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Varicella
• Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within the last 12 months
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
• COVID-19 vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions must be submitted for review

• Call coverage includes weekends, evenings, holidays, and off-shifts
• Collaborative team setting in a cardiac, vascular, and thoracic operating room
