Registered Nurse - PCU

Location: Melbourne, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Details

• Patient ratio: 1:5
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend or a total of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period (unit dependent)
• On-call: Not required
• Float requirement: Yes, may float to other units or locations within the region
• Block scheduling: Not guaranteed
• First-time travelers: Not accepted

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Florida
• Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Certifications required:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Additional Requirements

• Flu vaccine required during flu season (10/31 - 3/31); medical or religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation
• Two professional references from managers, supervisors, charge nurses, or directors within the last year required
• Physical exam within 6 months prior to start (required by Florida law for all patient-facing candidates)
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 3 months of start
• Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, including marijuana
• Fit mask test within 12 months prior to start (specific mask types required; must be fully shaven)
• Immunization titers required within 5 years for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Background checks including social security trace, education verification, and others as required by state regulations
• Fingerprinting clearance (Florida AHCA Level II) must be completed and on file prior to start; travelers cannot start with fingerprints pending
• Completion of facility-specific documents including job description acknowledgment, confidentiality agreement, and badge photo

• Contracted hours are guaranteed
• Must be able to provide required documentation and clearances prior to start date

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with PCU experience who meet Florida licensure and certification requirements and are comfortable with floating and weekend shifts.
