Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse for a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) with opportunities to float to cardiac stepdown and CVPICU (training provided). This is a travel contract position with shift requirements of either 3x12-hour or 4x12-hour shifts, including every other weekend.
Unit Information
- 23-bed Cardiac ICU caring for complex heart patients, including VAD and heart transplant cases.
- Staffing ratios range from 1:1 to 1:2.
- Float assignments include cardiac stepdown unit and PICU.
- PICU RNs will be trained on CVPICU.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Indiana
- Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Telemetry experience preferred
- Must be available for every other weekend
Travel Experience
- First-time travelers are accepted.
- No prior travel experience required.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy).
- Background checks including 7 years of residence/work history, criminal, sex offender, and education verification.
- Drug screening (10-panel) within 12 months.
- Physical exam within 12 months.
- Fit mask test within 12 months (specific respirators required).
- Immunizations and titers:
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations).
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations).
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap preferred but not required.
- Flu vaccination required during flu season (no declinations except approved medical/religious exemptions).
- TB testing within 1 year (PPD, QuantiFERON, or T-SPOT) with follow-up chest X-ray if positive.
- Color blind exam (Ishihara or equivalent) with 100% minimum score.
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam and unit competency exam required.
- References: Minimum 2 from recent employment with supervisory titles.
- Current employment application with explanation of any gaps over 30 days.

- Locals are not accepted for this position.
- Orientation includes completion of safety manuals and facility-specific compliance forms.
- Some facility-specific mandatory training modules may apply.
- Indiana RN’s may face restrictions at certain facilities after 11/30/2024, with exceptions for perioperative, allied, and ambulatory RN travelers.
