Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with experience in Medical Surgical care for adult to geriatric patient populations. This is a travel contract position with a 12-week assignment.


Required Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Medical Surgical nursing.
  • 1st time travelers are accepted.
  • Prior travel experience is not required.

Patient Population

  • Adults to Geriatrics

Certifications Required

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required depending on specialty area.
  • Other certifications such as PALS, NRP, EFM may be required based on unit assignment (refer to specialty/unit requirements).

Work Environment & Unit Details

  • Patient ratio approximately 1:5-6
  • Unit uses Epic electronic health record system, Pyxis medication system, and SBAR communication tool.
  • Floating within facility/scope of practice as needed.
  • Weekends: Every other weekend.
  • Call: None required.
  • Holidays: Expected to work major holidays if they fall during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day).

Orientation & Compliance

  • Maximum Return to Orientation (RTO) time: 7 days.
  • Full compliance with onboarding requirements is mandatory to start on time.
  • Non-billable orientation hours depend on contract length.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse license in the state of Georgia.
  • Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience within the last year.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Health & Background Requirements

  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start.
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start.
  • Immunizations and titers required: MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap highly recommended), Flu vaccine or declination.
  • TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months or chest x-ray if positive history.
  • Annual TB questionnaire.
  • Background check required within 30 days of start, including education verification.
  • References: 2 clinical references required.
  • Skills checklist and work history verification required within 12 months.

Additional Notes

  • Locals are accepted at the same rate.
  • Floating within the facility may be required.
  • Candidate must review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance.
  • No call requirements.
